Marriage and a single friend

If you are already married, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be having single friends anymore. You may still have single friends around you with whom you are very much close with. There is fairly nothing wrong with that of course, but sometimes, a single friend can cause trouble. It may be that the person is jealous that you are married and he or she is not, or it may be that your friend is jealous of all the time you spend with your spouse. Here is an exerpt of what i have read in one blog on how a single friend might affect your marriage with your spouse:

Either way, don’t let the jealous single friend create problems between you and your mate. You can, and should, still go out with your friends sometimes, just be careful not to do anything that gives your spouse suspicions. For example, you probably don’t want to be hanging out in the club that your ex frequents, especially without your spouse. Making your husband or wife doubtful, suspicious, or jealous is not good for your relationship.

Your friend may also talk ugly about your spouse at times. If you get the least bit frustrated and complain, your friend is likely to not only agree, but exaggerate your mate’s fault’s as well. Don’t fall into the trap of seeing your spouse through an envious acquaintance’s eyes.

It’s also not a good idea to share too much private information with this kind of person. It has a way of coming back to bite you. The pal might actually use it against you to get you and your spouse into an argument. It’s been done. Then, your pal will undoubtedly say, "Let’s get out of here." You’ll most likely regret it.

To further emphasize the thought, it is not a sin to have a single friends, definitely not a wrong practice in maintaining a relationship with single friends while being married to the person you loved dearly. You just have to make sure which ones are your real friends. =)
